Turkey Tail Mushroom
Turkey Tail Mushrooms (or Coriolus Versicolor) are visually striking fungi that grow on tree trunks and fallen trees in dense woodland areas. Turkey Tail is powerfully nutritious, with a number of studies showing this particular SuperShroom to have immune boosting properties. In one 2014 review, researchers looked at studies of five types of mushroom, including Turkey Tail, as complementary cancer treatments. They conclude; “the evidence base for using mushrooms in cancer treatment has greatly increased.” These particular studies do suggest Turkey Tail may be best used as a complementary supplement to traditional Cancer treatments, as opposed to a cure.
Turkey Tail contains two specific compounds called polysaccharopeptide (PSP) and polysaccharide-K (PSK). The interesting point to note is that both PSP and PSK appear to inhibit the growth of cancer cells. According to some tests, PSP may also have the ability to stimulate the immune system, especially when combined with other anticancer treatments.
